23 October 2026 · Ad diary #5
Eleven days, $200, six ads. The budget ran out on 19 October. Here is where every dollar went and which ad won.

The short version
The campaign had a $200 cap and a $20 daily budget. Meta is allowed to spend more than the daily budget on a good day, and it did: $27.42 on 17 October, $34.41 on 18 October, $28.77 on 19 October. That used up what was left. On 20 and 21 October it managed seven cents and one cent, and nothing since.

The diary skipped 18 to 22 October, so this entry covers the whole stretch. Every number here comes from Ads Manager as it stands today.
For five days the ads went to any adult in the United States. For the last six they went to gamers aged 18 to 50 in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

A thousand views cost $11.62 with the broad audience and $11.49 with gamers. Same price to be seen. The difference is all in the tapping: about one gamer in 90 tapped, against one broad viewer in 30. Part of the broad number is junk. On day one Audience Network sent a pile of accidental taps, which is why we switched it off on 12 October. Even without those, gamers cost more per click.
New players went up on the busiest gamer days and fell to almost nothing once the money stopped. Joseph wrote up what the $200 bought and what he would do with the next $200 on his blog.

| Ad, 11 to 21 October | Spent | Views | Link clicks | Per click | Click rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| V1 Sheriff warning | $73.38 | 6,389 | 227 | $0.32 | 3.55% |
| V2 Infomercial | $63.90 | 5,032 | 63 | $1.01 | 1.25% |
| V4 Is this half | $49.22 | 4,839 | 59 | $0.83 | 1.22% |
| V5 Courtroom | $9.52 | 833 | 12 | $0.79 | 1.44% |
| V3 Things I cut | $3.71 | 180 | 2 | $1.86 | 1.11% |
| S1 Static court | $0.27 | 46 | 1 | $0.27 | 2.17% |
| All ads | $200.00 | 17,319 | 364 | $0.55 | 2.10% |
The Sheriff's 227 clicks include the junk taps from day one, so its 32 cents flatters it. The last three days are a fairer test. From 17 October on, Meta spent $56.50 of the last $90.68 on the Sheriff ad, and it drew 60 of the last 86 clicks. The Infomercial, which led on 16 October, got $16.96, and it now shows as switched off in Ads Manager. The static image and V3 barely ran at all; Meta decided early they were not worth showing.
